About

Regular Celery is the studio of architect, designer and writer Lee Marable.

Lee formed Regular Celery in 2017, with the award of a start-up grant from the Finnish Department of Work (TE Palvelut) in order to produce a range of backpacks and screen printed textiles. These products have been sold across Finland and the ‘Made in Helsinki’ range of screen-printed kitchen towels is presently available in the Museum of Finnish Architecture and the Regular Celery Online Store.

The studio regularly enters open architecture and urban design competitions both in Finland and internationally, winning honourable mention in the 2018 Vantaa Housing Reform Competition with the project ‘Tree of Life!’. The studio’s architecture and urban design projects aim to explore ideas of modesty, equality and activity, often placing an emphasis on locality, public space and scale. Lee regularly writes for architectural publications including ARK – The Finnish Architectural Review and Bauwelt. His writing primarily focuses on ethics in urban design. Read more here.

In 2019 he co-founded BUM Editions, an independent publisher, producing the architecture, design and arts magazine BUM. Lee is jointly responsible for editing, graphic design, marketing and illustrating the magazine. BUM Editions received grants from Grafia, the Finnish Association of Visual Communication Designers and Taike, The Arts Promotion Centre Finland, to support the publication of four further issues in 2021. In 2022, Lee moved back to the UK and continues to work as a freelance designer, writer and editor, most recently for Open City.
